Mireya Arroyo was elected as the Moon Valley Justice of the Peace in 2024 and took office the following January. She is the first Latina to represent the Moon Valley community as its Justice of the Peace. Born in Mexico to working-class immigrant parents, Judge Arroyo immigrated to the United States at the age of 11 and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 2006.
Arroyo holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and is the first in her family to earn a college degree. Throughout her career in Human Resources she has worked on implementing and reviewing legislation and shaping policies to serve employees effectively. Most recently she took great pride in supporting Phoenix’s firefighters in the Human Resources Department, where she focused on ensuring their well-being.
Judge Arroyo has two sons. Her youngest is in elementary school and her oldest is a student at Arizona State University.
The Arroyo family, including two dogs, Lola and Luna, live in the Moon Valley community where they are active members.
